Inclusion through art and culture. Young people from Anina helped by two artists from Timisoara

Disadvantaged children and youth from Anina benefit from the support offered through the project “Inclusive Art – Access to Culture for Disadvantaged Children and Youth”. The project is based on social inclusion and or creativity development, through culture and art.
New activities are scheduled in the project “Inclusive Art – Access to Culture for Disadvantaged Children and Youth”, eMS RORS-22, in the town of Anina. The project is financed by the European Union through the Trans-frontier cooperation Romania-Serbia INTERREG IPA Program, where the Nevo Parudimos Association is a partner together with the city hall of Zrenjanin (Serbia), The Centre of Beautiful and Applied Arts Terra (Kikinda, Serbia), the coordinator of the project being the Intercultural Institute from Timisoara.
During the period 16-29 July, two artists from Timisoara – Ana Ursu (actress) and Andrei Ursu (dramaturge) – were in Anina, at the No. 2 Secondary School from Steierdorf. They organized activities for the children from that neighbourhood and more and had as objective their integration and the society and the development of their creativeness.
Andrei describes the activities “We used story telling techniques with the children in Steierdorf. What is a story? Why do we tell stories? How do we tell stories? Who do we tell stories? Why? Because each story is in fact a formula; we worked together with children and guided them to create their own stories. Children begun to write their stories – true, invented, fantastic, joyful or san. The important thing is that these were believable and had a message. The story will be published in „zine” (journal) as a collective volume. The volume reader will be the ones to decipher the message”.
Ana says “The target group of this project are children from Steierdorf with parents that left to work abroad. I used the picture as starting point to discover their stories. Later I applied the theatre games, tried to access the children’s creativity and their desire to play. Together we created the text for a theatre play that will be published in a journal. During the final event, the pictures realized by the children will be exhibited and a part of them will be turned into post cards for the parents left abroad”.
On Sunday, 29 July, the conclusions of these activities were presented during a public event.
