Advisory Council on Youth Problems
On the 25th of March, the second meeting of the Ministry of Youth and Sports took place, with the purpose of establishing and consolidating an Advisory Council on Youth Problems [see details from the 3rd meeting].
The council desires to have an advisory purpose, not a decisional one, having as target the representation of a common youth voice, a monitoring purpose etc.
As a representative of the Nevo Parudimos Association, Elena Garofita Rupa participated at this meeting.
The following subjects were discussed during the meeting:
1. Council Participation Criteria
2. Council roles and responsibilities
3. Council registration procedures
4. Structured dialogue
5. No hate speech campaign
According to the 5 activities presented, representatives were grouped into teams that establish proposals for a proper initiation of the Council. According to the purpose of the Council meeting, referring to Roma Youth, the Nevo Parudimos Association introduced for debate the following:
– Representation of Roma youth at the level of Advisory Councils, the availability in Youth Councils, or others, of at least one position destined for a Roma young person (advice, debate or decision taking by young people);
– The equal fund distribution for youth activities;
– Disadvantaged Roma youth groups in rural environments;
– Social inclusion of Roma youth;
– Efficient and non-exclusive informing of youth on social development opportunities;
– The inclusion among facilitators prepared for a Structured Dialogue, of young Roma people that could work with Roma youth and more;
During this meeting, the Council was open to taking into consideration and to answering the needs of Roma youth and others.
For present participants and facilitators from all work groups, the following subjects were a priority:
– Representation of Roma youth at the level of Advisory Councils, availability in Roma Councils of at least one position for a young Roma person (advice, debate or decision taking by young people);
– Social inclusion of Roma youth in youth programs, their capacitating;
– Inclusion, among facilitators prepared for a Structured Dialogue, of young Roma people that could work with Roma youth and more;
– Efficient and non-exclusive informing of youth on social development opportunities;
– Development of partnerships, youth collaborations, youth coordinators, leaders etc.
– Members of the No Hate Speech campaign willing to enter into contact and work with a network of Roma youth.
The Council on Youth Problems called its representative members for another meeting on the 22nd of April, 11 a.m., at the Ministry of Youth and Sports.
