The Nevo Parudimos Association, together with more international partners, developed the project “Realms of Death – Remembrance about the Porajmos in Eastern Europe (REDE)”. The implementation period is 01.08.2017 – 30.11.2018.

The project has as objective the increase of an awareness referring to the Holocaust, by putting an accent on events which took place in Hungary and Transnistria, at the end of the Second World War, in order to keep a living memory of Roma and Sinti victims of Nazism. Our European and integration values are built especially on our historical experience and on the memory of those ancient time, thus the forgotten Roma genocide must be underlined, because it counted more than 500.000 victims and continued with social exclusion, discrimination and painful speeches, and as a consequence of ignorance and non-recognition of Roma genocide.

This project desires to obtain an improvement of educators’ knowledge, of citizens and of the entire civil society referring to Roma Holocaust, especially of those from Romania and Hungary.

The objective of this project is to involve Roma people, minorities, non-Roma and youth organisations in the process of developing and awareness of Roma genocide from all over Europe, until the date of 2 August, which is considered the official date for the memory of the Holocaust at an European level, with an accent of the reality of deportation in Hungary and Transnistria, which took place in Romani.

We desire to create a debate space for this subject and introduce in the national political program the people’s reality who suffered during those events, but also to involve politicians, to inform and educate people on this subject.

The project gathers together 600 citizens, survivors, eye witnesses, experts and different generations in international meetings and conferences. Through local actions and online campaigns the target groups counts more than 1.000 citizens and also desires to indirectly involve, through other media instruments, more than 50.000 people. As a result a catalogue will be printed with a descriptive content of Roma genocide, of the most important event from Hungary and Transnistria, including all current investigations, a website for promotion and other social media instruments will help in the documenting of events, to which a documentary film is added.

The content of the project and its methodology are based on inclusion approaches, on empowerment and participation through the use of the needs and interests of Roma and non-Roma youth, of experts and partners in order to built partnerships at all levels, to transfer, disseminate and explore useful practices in the Roma context, in the educational context of Human Rights and in politics referring to youth. Its methodology puts an accent on different working groups, on non-formal education, on sharing and discussion, on workshops with experts, plenary session with shareholders, trips and visits with the Holocaust survivors.
