WAWW – “One project ends – new collaborations begin”

The Project What a Wonderful World! Concluded in Reșița with Ideas, Resources, and Commitments for a Greener Future
The headquarters of the Nevo Parudimos Association in Reșița hosted on August 28 an event that marked both the conclusion of a European project and the beginning of new paths toward green collaborations. In a warm and engaged atmosphere, the local community came together to celebrate the end of the What a Wonderful World! (WAWW) project, carried out between 2023 and 2025 in partnership with organizations from Austria, Turkey, Greece, Italy, and Serbia. In addition to the event in Reșița on August 27, 2025, the WAWW project was also presented in Milcoveni, during the Marabu camp, where children and young people learned about the importance of caring for the environment.
Where did it all start:
WAWW had a clear objective: to develop eco-literacy skills among young people and to encourage them to become promoters of change.
The project began with an international survey answered by 90 young people and focus groups with youth active in environmental protection. These activities resulted in a comparative European report on young people’s perceptions and behaviors regarding climate change.
Based on this report, the international team developed innovative educational themes and organized four international mobilities focused on the relationship between climate and:
-
forests and water,
-
gases,
-
recycling,
-
energy and eco-gardening.
Project results:
Over two years, WAWW delivered concrete and replicable outcomes:
-
Eco-Literacy Guide – four volumes with theory, best practices, and practical exercises;
-
a video documentary featuring the voices of young people;
-
online campaigns and multiplier events;
-
a European network of organizations and youth active in sustainability.
More than 100 young people directly participated in the international mobilities, and the project’s impact was reflected through accessible educational resources and stronger awareness of climate change.
The Reșița event – dialogue and energy for the future
The agenda of the event on August 28 combined information with active engagement:
-
presentation of the Eco-Literacy Guide,
-
a round table on opportunities to integrate environmental education into the community,
-
interactive workshops
-
green networking sessions.
Participants appreciated the opportunity to share ideas and jointly build proposals for a “greener city.”
Participants’ feedback – clear impact and ideas for continuation
The evaluation questionnaires completed at the end confirmed the success of the event:
-
over 80% of participants found the guide presentation highly relevant;
-
nearly 90% identified the interactive workshops and round table as the most useful moments of the day;
-
more than 85% stated they felt highly motivated to get involved in ecological actions after the event;
-
the logistics and atmosphere were rated excellent by the majority of participants;
-
almost everyone confirmed that networking gave them the opportunity to start new collaborations.
Suggestions for the future focused on organizing recurring local workshops, stronger collaborations with schools, and visible community campaigns that bring together youth, teachers, and local authorities.
The legacy of WAWW
