Nevo Parudimos Association implements between 01.05-31.10.2024 the “Culture in the slum” project, an initiative that proposes to bring to the table of the local authorities in Reșița the real problems faced by the Roma communities in the city and to change the general image of the local community. on the ethnic Roma, the culture to also highlight the particularities of these ethnic minorities and the contrast between the Roma communities in Reșita and the local community as a whole, in terms of living conditions and opportunities.
The general goal of the project is to increase the inclusion of Roma communities in Reșita through cultural, artistic and advocacy activities.
Specific objective:
- Increase the level of awareness of the problems, needs and exclusion faced by Roma from disadvantaged communities (ghettos/ slums/ informal communities) in the city of Resita among local authorities and the local community
- Change the overall image of the Reșița community on the Roma ethnic minority, by highlighting the culture, traditions and values of the Roma through artistic and cultural events in 3 Roma communities from Caras-Severin
- Facilitate a long-term space for dialogue and collaboration between local authorities and 3 Roma communities in the city of Reșita
Within the project, 3 cultural activities will be organized in the cities of Bocșa and Reșita( in Magura and Calea Caransebesului and Calnic neighbourhoods), 3 round tables with 20 representatives of Roma communities in Reșita and local authorities and representatives of societies and field visits and meetings of local authorities/social services/society. civil in the 3 Roma communities in Reșita – Câlnic, Mociur, Dealu Mare.
The initiative is financed by the European Commission through the ERGO Network.
