The “Make a Change” project aims to foster social inclusion, reduce school dropout, and strengthen civic engagement in disadvantaged communities of Reșița, particularly in neighborhoods such as Mociur, Dealul Mare, Câlnic, and Moara Juracek.

Project objectives

1. Reducing school dropout
The project supports children’s education and development through after-school programs, non-formal learning, cultural and volunteering activities. These actions are carried out in close cooperation with schools, kindergartens, parents, and local institutions to make education more accessible and engaging.

2. Increasing civic participation and volunteering
We encourage citizens – especially young people – to become active in their communities through campaigns, regular volunteering events, and participation in local decision-making processes.

3. Promoting inclusion and reducing stereotypes
The project builds bridges between marginalized groups, institutions, and the wider community through inclusive events, public campaigns, and partnerships with media and cultural actors. These efforts aim to reduce prejudice and foster long-term cooperation and understanding.

Project activities

Volunteers take part in a variety of activities that benefit children and youth from disadvantaged areas:

  • Daily child-centered non-formal educational activities in schools, kindergartens, day centers, and educational institutions in and around marginalized communities in Reșița.

  • Youth center activities designed to stimulate initiative, solidarity, and social engagement among local young people.

  • Cultural and volunteering activities promoting tolerance, solidarity, voluntary work, and social inclusion.

  • Summer camps led by volunteers, combining playful learning, educational experiences, and recreational activities.

All activities aim to develop children’s skills, creativity, self-confidence, participation, and intercultural understanding.

Project impact

The project takes place in 35 different locations, including schools, kindergartens, educational centers, and our youth center—most of which are located in or near marginalized communities in Reșița.
Through its wide reach and strong community involvement, the project contributes to sustainable local development and a more inclusive society.
