Project leader: Nevo Parudimos Association
Implementation period: July 7 – October 26, 2025
Budget: 119,024.60 RON
Nevo Parudimos Association is implementing the RomaEdu Voices project from July 7 to October 26, 2025, with non-refundable funding from the budget of the National Agency for Roma.
The initiative aims to promote social inclusion and reduce discrimination among young people in the Banat region through an innovative process of intercultural dialogue and collaborative media creation. The project’s activities focus on empowering a mixed group of Roma and non-Roma youth by developing media and storytelling skills, in order to combat stereotypes and hate speech by creating their own content (podcasts, vlogs).
As for activities, the project will involve the implementation of a 4-day training course for 30 education instructors from the region (teachers, school principals), focused on developing intercultural skills and inclusive pedagogy methods, and a 6-day media camp, “RomaEdu Voices Academy,” for a mixed group of 30 young people. The course will have a hands-on approach (“learning by doing”) and work in mixed teams, where young people will learn media production skills (storytelling, podcasting, vlogging) to explore cultural identities and dismantle prejudices.
These will be complemented by a constant dissemination and promotion campaign for intercultural dialogue, which will have a direct approach to the general public by creating a dedicated YouTube channel, “RomaEdu Voices,” where all materials created by the youth will be published.
The media content created by the youth will be constantly promoted to expose the general public to authentic, positive stories and perspectives that contrast with frequently circulated stereotypes, thus normalizing the idea of interethnic collaboration.
Our project aims both to transform the young participants into active agents of change, capable of promoting positive models and a non-stereotypical image of Roma youth through their own media creations, and to provide inclusion training for teachers to create a more welcoming and equitable school environment, thus contributing to a more equitable society and the strengthening of democratic citizenship.
