The Etnica festival, a festival of ethnicity diversity

A delegation of approximately 100 people from Bulgaria, Italy, Hungary and Romania, but also representatives of the European Commission were present in Resita for the first meeting of the project “Network of cities which use CLLD principles and cultural activities to promote inclusion of the Roma in Europe”, financed by the Europe for Citizen program, Strand 2: Democratic engagement and civic participation, call 2.2: Network of Towns. The total value of the project was 150.000 Euros, and will be implemented during the period 1 July 2017 – 31 October 2018. Its objective is to promote the idea of equal citizens included in a tolerant and open European society.
One of the project components is the organisation of a socio-cultural event during which each ethnicity may present its particularities: kitchen, customs, music and traditional dances. In Resita, the Etnica Festival took place on the 13th and 14th of October in front of the Culture House. The event also involved a products exhibition, a parade of national costumes and marching band music.
