30 young people from Romania and Serbia promoted the beauty of diversity
Nevo Parudimos Association participated, as a partner, in the project “Beauty of diversity” (No. RS01-KA105-065005), implemented in the commune of Brebu, Caras-Severin county, between 3-14 September 2020 and funded by the European Commission through the program Erasmus +.
“The beauty of diversity” was a bilateral youth exchange involving 30 people aged 18 to 25 from Serbia and Romania and was initiated by the Serbian Roma Youth organization in Serbia.
The aim of the project was to encourage young participants to become active citizens in the countries where they live, regardless of their economic situation, religion, skin color or other specificities that define their identity.
Both from Serbia and Romania, the participants were young people from vulnerable groups, most of them young Roma and non-Roma living in disadvantaged neighborhoods and who have a problem of integration and identity and also a problem in understanding the national and cultural heritage of the minority to which they belong.
During this project, the organizers aimed to develop the following knowledge, skills among the participants:
1. Social and interpersonal relationships – living together for 11 days with other participants has developed interpersonal relationships and social skills that allowed them to be more open and tolerant of others.
2. Civic skills and sense of initiative – after this project, the young participants will be more confident in their own civic skills and will develop a sense of initiative.
