Support for Ukrainian Roma refugees from Suceava county is a help and support project aimed at 40 Ukrainian Roma families from the N-E region of Romania, near the border with Ukraine, who fled the war in their country in the last year.

Our goal is to establish the living conditions of the Ukrainian Roma living in the N-E area of Romania.

Our objectives are:

  • Improving the level of access to services for 40 Ukrainian Roma families from Suceava county Together on projects
  • Granting humanitarian aid to 40 Ukrainian Roma families from Suceava county on the project.

Expected results were as follows:

  • a database was created with the Roma families in Suceava county that contain or offer care services they can benefit from.
  • 40 families have more information about services available for refugees
  • 40 Roma families received financial support (vouchers) to buy food, dignified children for women and girls or other daily necessities.

The project involved the implementation of the following activities:

  • information sessions for Ukrainian Roma families from Suceava county. A social worker also provided information to Ukrainian Roma families on the project and directed them to services offered by partners from the Bucovina Institute or other state institutions in Suceava county. All services and information were offered taking into account the specifics of the Roma ethnicity. At the beginning of the project, we organized an online workshop for the team of our partners on how to work with and approach Roma beneficiaries.
  • Providing financial support. As part of the project, we provided financial support (vouchers) for the purchase of food or other products needed for everyday life for 40 families (50 vouchers of 60 EUR). The vouchers were awarded based on an assessment of the families’ needs.
