Nevo Parudimos Association is implementing the project BREAK THE GLASS CEILING as a partner from January 2023 to December 2025, an initiative that aims to increase the quality of youth services, particularly volunteering projects under the European Solidarity Corps, by focusing on the empowerment process for young women. We aim to achieve this goal by implementing, publishing, and disseminating research, as well as by disseminating a publication presenting methods and good practices that promote the empowerment process.

We support high-level youth work by focusing on young women, a vulnerable group often facing barriers. The outcomes of the project help increase the recognition and efficacy of youth work through the research findings and the application of the publication, allowing youth organizations and workers to improve the quality and accessibility of their services. Additionally, the widespread dissemination will enhance the general recognition and international nature of youth work.

The importance of this field is affirmed in several resolutions by both the European Parliament and the European Commission; enhancing the social inclusion, and social and labor market participation of young women is a key objective of the European Union, closely aligned with the goals and priorities of the Erasmus+ program, the European Youth Policy objectives, and the EU Gender Equality Strategy:

  • Ensuring equal treatment
  • Making gender equality a universal consideration
  • Introducing targeted measures for women’s empowerment

Our project is focused on gaining a comprehensive insight into the needs of young female ESC volunteers. We plan to conduct a mixed-method study to better understand how ESC projects affect young women’s current and future life situations. Our research aims to target young women from both inside and outside the European Union, providing us with a diverse range of cultural perspectives. By examining successful and unsuccessful projects through the lens of women’s needs, we can compile best practices from ESC implementing organizations from different countries.

This initiative will ensure that appropriate frameworks are provided primarily for women and that the results can be generalized for all applicants (NGOs) and policymakers.
