YesForum (Germany), in partnership with the Nevo Parudimos Association (Romania), Activa and Piteå (Sweden), Go Foundation (Holland), Zefiro (Italy), The Inclusion Network (England), BAG KJS – under the shadow of Caritas Ludwigsburg-Waiblingen-Enz, (Germany), CNLAPS (France), JEF – Young European Federalists (Belgium) implements the project YourEP (EP= European Parliament), a strategic project developed during the period 1st of April 2017 – 31st December 2018.
Objectives
For 21 months, The project YourEP proposed to make politics more attractive and to develop political involvement for youth for reduced opportunities from the 7 countries participant, with the help of 3 transnational meetings for youth coordination (Stuttgart, Piteo and Bruxelles) and 2 common international mobility (one in Bruxelles and one in Strasbourg), where the youth will learn about the European Union, about the functioning mechanism and the decision making one, about the European Parliament and about how they can get involved in taking decisions at an European Level, in the future.
Later, young participants will be capacitated in stimulating the European Parliament in Strasbourg (May-June 2018) and at the same time have the opportunity to participated in the largest youth event created by the European Parliament, the European Youth Event (where more than 8.000 young people from all over the world are expected to register).
Target groups
Young people with reduced possibilities from 7 European countries will have the possibility to better understand what politics is, what opportunities are there in the political domain, how they can become MEPs (Member of the European Parliament) and why youth involvement in today’s politics is important.
The project proposed to involve 3 participants per partner, accompanied by a coordinated named from the registration phase of the project. From the Nevo Parudimos Association, the coordinator of this project is manager Laura Turcu. She is responsible for all logistical aspects involved: project promotion, participants’ selection, participants preparing, participation at all coordination meetings, the insurance of inclusive participation and of non-discrimination against participants selected on the same criteria and the coordination of all activities at a local level (online and offline).
The first trans-national meeting (30 – 31 May 2017, Stuttgart, Germany) had as purpose the knowledge of the project and of each partner’s tasks, the establishment of the following steps and the preparing of the first common mobility, where the young people will learn for 5 days, in a practical and active manner, what is the European Union, how does the European Parliament function, why Belgium and why Bruxelles. This mobility refers to participants having a clearer idea about functioning mechanisms of European level politics. From the Nevo Parudimos Association, the project coordinator participated, accompanied by a young boy, from 3 people already selected.
The first common mobility was organized during the 20th – 24th November 2017 in Bruxelles, where 24 young people with reduced opportunities, three of which coming from Romania, participated together with project coordinators and had the opportunity to visit and actively learn about the Museum House of European History, the European Parliament and the European Headquarters, containing the Counsel, the Commission and different General Directions. In addition, with the help of the event organized by YesForum network, in the same project, Yes Forum Policy Event – event which is facilitated by the dialogue between youth and political representatives of different EU organisms – participants had the opportunity to discuss with member of the European Parliament, with representatives of the European Commission – of the Erasmus+ program and from EACEA (Executive Agency), with responsible of the EYE project (European Youth Event), secretaries of MEPs, responsible of youth programs and even with the vice-president of the European Parliament, Rainer Wieland. The purpose of this mobility was to understand how the European Parliament works and why, so that later on, young people, in Strasbourg, may stimulate a political session similar to those held in the European Parliament.
The second common mobility took place during the period 29th – 31st of May 2018, in Strasbourg, France. This had as purpose the simulation of the European Parliament, inside the Strasbourg European Parliament headquarters, realized by more than 30 participants from: Germany, France, Italy, Sweden, Romania, Great Britain, Holland and with the support of the JEF Europe Association from Belgium. Participants learnt, during the month of November 2017, in Bruxelles, what does the European Parliament mean and how does it work, so that for 3 days, in Strasbourg, they managed to practice what they learnt.
The Nevo Parudimos Association participated as partner with a delegation of 4 people (a coordinator and 3 participants), the latter preparing for the member roles for the European parliaments, which they selected at the beginning of the month of May. Participants learnt what being an MEP means, which are their attributions and moreover, they could understand how the decision making process works at the level of the European Parliament functions being able, at the same time, to visit the splendid building.
Being projected for one year for participant youth, the main objective was that of making stimulation inclusive, accessible and as informal as possible for youth not-familiarized with the European Parliament. This was only a simulation, but the YourEP project offered participative informal education on the manner in which the EU legislation works and an encouragement of the implication in the European Parliament as citizens. Due to an active participation and of adapted methods, the project was a success and all participants, despite of their origin environment and of their different cultures, managed to interact, work together and reach and impressive results integrating the EU motto: “United in Diversity”.
In addition, because the project team was the understanding of politics for youth coming from different European countries, due to the YesForum network persistence (the coordinator of the project), the youth group was registered for the largest youth event organised in Europe, the European Youth Event, where more than 9.000 young people from all over Europe participated, together with members and representatives of the European Parliament, activities in the youth domain and numerous experts on the subjects exposed during the seminars organised. This opportunity was very appreciated by the 4 young people from Resita, this being possible only with the help of this grand project.

Vreau să încep prin a spune că am trăit o experiență care nu se poate uita vreodată. Pe lângă peisajele minunate din Bruxelles și ciocolata belgiană de care am avut parte, oamenii pe care i-am cunoscut și experiențele trăite alături de ei au făcut ca acest proiect să devină unul ingenios și plin de activități super amuzante. Odată cu vizita muzeului istoriei Europei, am învățat multe lucruri noi despre trecutul acestui continent. Totodată, activitățile susținute de acest proiect m-au ajutat să cunosc mai bine termenul de „Uniune Europeană”. Acest proiect a fost cu siguranță, cum se spune, „ceva nou” și foarte plăcut pentru mine. Am avut norocul să cunosc oameni amuzanți și deschiși (poate nu toți), iar împreună am experimentat cinci zile în care ne-am distrat, dar ne-am și dezvoltat pe plan personal și social.
Proiectul YourEP ce a avut loc la Bruxelles pentru mine unul a fost foarte interesant, dar totodată obositor. Obositor pentru că timpul ne-a presat, pot spune, trebuind să facem foarte multe lucruri într-un timp scurt. Interesant pentru că am învățat o mulțime de lucruri, dar am și văzut o mulțime de lucruri ce îți stârneau curiozitatea. Mai mult de atât, faptul că am participat la o dezbatere în Parlamentul European m-a făcut să înțeleg practic cum se desfășoară lucrurile acolo și să văd cu ochii mei locul în care se iau decizii atât de importante pentru Europa, dar care influențează și țările din afara acesteia într-o oarecare măsură. Ce am învățat practic aici în proiect este cât de important este ca tinerii și nu numai să fie activi, dar cu rezultate. Care să influențeze și să schimbe ceva pentru societate, ceea ce ar trebui cu toții să facem mai ales în contextul în care politica tuturor țărilor scârțâie și se iau decizii pentru cei ce conduc țara, nu pentru toți membrii ei. Am învățat să nu mai aștept, să iau atitudine, să mă exprim, să îmi susțin cauza și multe alte lucruri pe care am să încerc să le aplic în viata mea de zi cu zi. Ce pot spune… Fiți activi!
Acest proiect a avut rolul de a ne arăta câte ceva despre viața politică, cum funcționează și ce este la nivel european. Pot să spun că am fost plăcut surprins, mai ales de faptul că am avut ocazia să discut personal într-o sesiune de dezbateri cu parlamentari europeni în carne și oase. Și mi-a plăcut foarte mult faptul că am vizitat orașul și mai ales Parlamentul, unde am avut ocazia să asistăm la dezbateri reale privind situații actuale, am putut înțelege mai în amănunt ce este de fapt acest mecanism politic. Cel mai mult mi-a plăcut când, după ce s-a încheiat proiectul și aveam 3 ore până să mergem spre metrou ca apoi să luăm un autobuz spre avion etc, am avut timp pentru mine să mă pierd pe străduțele Bruxelles-ului, am avut ocazia să văd pentru puțin timp ce înseamnă să fii acolo; vreau să spun că, plimbându-mă și văzând: o alee foarte lungă și lată, plină de oameni, dar vreau să pun accent pe plină, atât de plină încât trebuia la fiecare pas să fac loc cuiva care se holba pe cine știe unde, ca și mine de altfel, dar totodată toți fiind în grabă să ajungă mai repede unde aveau de ajuns, toate astea cu soarele de apus care îmi dădea în ochi și care se ascundea încet încet după blocurile păstrate în forma arhitecturală originală din zona centrului vechi al orașului, m-au făcut să îmi dau seama cât de mare este lumea și de fapt ce frumos este să te pierzi prin mulțime; abia aștept să mai călătoresc și sunt profund recunoscător acestei ocazii de a vedea un colțișor din lume, de aceea mulțumesc foarte mult organizației Nevo Parudimos și abia aștept să mai particip și la alte proiecte ale lor, deoarece mă simt extraordinar după această experiență; vă mulțumesc și sper să țintiți fiecare către împlinirea celor mai adânci țeluri, că merită pe deplin!
